The Land Series is an act of attention. Horizontal lines hold steady, rich pastel and yellow ochre colours accumulate slowly, in layers that suggest depth rather than describing it. These are landscapes of feeling rather than geographical representations. My intention was to bring the emotional texture of open space, the particular solitude of a wide sky, the way certain places stay inside you long after you have left them. "Land is the first thing we come to know, inviting us to explore the landscape beneath us. I kept returning to it as the place where everything else begins - this is the analogy that inspired my Land Series."
