Gestural Abstraction
Gestural Abstraction is the most direct of the bodies of work. Marks made quickly, each brushstroke holds intention, with the whole body of work behind them. Capturing the moment before thought catches up with the feeling. Each painting carries their own history on the surface. Decisions layered over spontaneously. Every mark arts as a record of a physical event as much as it is a visual one. "The gesture arrives before the intention. My intention was to let it through without interrupting it."
